About the examination for the Title of
Sangeetacharya :

Sangeetacharya is the highest
title conferred by Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva
Mahavidyalaya Mandal. Once can do this
examination is two ways, either by writing a
research paper or by giving musical recital.
Music being a performing art. Dr. Neeta Bhabhe
preferred giving a recital. She also had to
write a research paper carrying 100 marks, which
had to be in relevance with her actual
presentation, which carries 400 marks. Out of
these 400, 200 marks are allotted to viva
examination and 200 to the actual presentation.
Total 500 mark examination. |
The curriculums is like this:
1. Poorvi-Gauri Variety, 2. Marwa That –
Panchang Variety, 3. Kedar-Kalyan – Bihag
Variety,
4. Bilawal-Nata Variety, 5. Malhar – Bahar
Variety, 6. Sarang-Dhanshri Variety,
7. Kanada Variety, 8. Bhairav Variety, 9.
Todi-Asawari Bhairavi Variety

Out of these 78 Ragas and
those which are close to them are to be studied
thoroughly. Their actual presentation is to be
accompanied by detailed discussion regarding
Alap-Tana style, typical application of notes
etc.
Dr. Neeta wrote her paper with the title
“Prachalit Uttar Hindustani Kantha Sangeetatil
Rag badhati madhye swara lagavanche mahatwa”
(The importance of note-application in
Raga-expansion in contemporary North-Indian
classical vocal music). Without note
application, the Raga-construction cannot take
place. Proper application of notes has to be
learnt directly from a Guru and has to be
mastered with regular practice.
Dr. neeta Bhabhe’s research was about veracities
of note-application, under the guidance of Dr.
N.V. Diwan and Mrs. Shobhatai Gurjar.
